Kabul University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) is the first ever medical and higher education University that was established about a century ago in 1932 in Affiliation with Turk and then French governments as medical school. The KUMS has since substantially expanded its capacity and services; today it has six schools providing higher education in curative medicine, dentistry, public health, midwifery, nursing and allied health. It also has six highly specialized teaching hospitals where clinical education is provided to undergraduate and post graduate education. The KUMS has started publication of cutting-edge knowledge in the area of medicine and public health, about 7 decades ago and by 2023 it has published 194 serial issues. Since June 2023 it has started online publication of the journal under the same name of Afghan Medical Journal.
The KUMS Aspires to be recognized nationally and regionally as a leader among academic health care organizations by cultivating a tradition of excellence and innovation in health care education, research and service.
